This Morning competition winner with terminal cancer spends winnings on throwing her own wake

A This Morning competition winner who has terminal cancer spent her cash prize on throwing her own wake.

Heather Bone, from West Sussex, was presented with £1,000 by Alison Hammond as part of the Dosh on Your Doorstep competition, and she said she wanted to throw a "Wake Before I Go Go" party, which she could attend herself.

Guests wore colourful wigs and enjoyed a dance, with Heather admitting she didn't get into bed until midnight.

She said on Monday's This Morning: "It went fantastic, everyone turned up in wigs, it was nice to see people I haven't seen for quite a long time and then trying to find out who's under that wig.

"It was really really nice."

Eamonn Holmes asked her if it has been an emotional or happy day or a bit of both.

Heather replied: "It was everything mixed up, it was emotional, it was happy, it was nice to see work friends I hadn't seen for a while.

Heather said she had slept all day the next day after the party as she was exhausted.

Since she last appeared on the show she said she needs to use a wheelchair and her speech has deteriorated.

She now has to have four carers visit her a day.

Heather has a bucket list, and she recently ticked off another thing - feeding giraffes.

Eamonn asked her what advice she would give to people on how to live their lives.

She answered: "We all say to each other, do things because life's too short, well it is too short."

After the interview, Ruth Langsford said: "That puts things very much into perspective in life doesn't it?

"Thank you for sharing that with us Heather, because that was not an easy conversation for her to have."

Heather's interview left viewers feeling emotional, with one tweeting: "Awww loved seeing Heather on @thismorning glad she got her party, not an easy interview to watch, everybody should be more like Heather."

"Glad you had your party Heather God bless," another posted.

A third viewer wrote: "That must have been tough for Heather, such an inspiring lady..."

"Heather is the best thing to come out of this show in recent months; a true inspiration," a fourth wrote.

Another agreed: "Heather putting things into perspective for me this morning, life is for living."
