This Morning descended into chaos today as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were briefly replaced.
As the show opened today, Phil and Holly were missing from their usual spot on the sofa and instead chef Gino D'Acampo was sat in their place. He started the show as normal, welcoming all the viewers with a piece to camera.
Within seconds though, Holly and Phil were spotted in the back of his shot, stood by the kitchen where Gino would usually be. It appeared the trio had swapped places as Holly and Phil explained what 'they' would be cooking on the show today.
Gino then led the opening segment, laughing and joking as he tried to get through the 'what's on' piece to camera, as he confirmed the likes of Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Simmonds and her partner Nikita Kuzmin, actor Richard E Grant and Stacey Solomon Swash would all be in the show. Gino also confirmed he would be hosting the phone in today.
As things returned to normal, Holly and Phil took their show back, telling Gino to head back to the kitchen. As they took the reigns back on, the show seemed much less chaotic as they doubled down on what was coming up.
It comes after ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall confirmed Holly and Phil's jobs were safe on the show despite the drama surrounding Queuegate. The pair were falsely accused of jumping the queue at the Queen's lying-in-state.
The chief executive explained: "They did have accreditation. Lots of people saying they didn’t. They were sent by This Morning to do a piece for September 20, which ran. They were to interview people inside and outside.
"They didn’t displace anyone in the queue. And they’ve been very misrepresented, actually. And that’s why we made a statement. Unusually, we made a statement to say all of those things. But it does show you how things spread and how misinformation just spreads. And it is really horrible for them. It’s hard. You imagine yourself in the eye of the storm like this, where you’re trying to say you’ve done nothing wrong and all the noise around you is saying that you have."
The pair attended the lying-in-state as part of a group of accredited journalists and broadcasters, with Holly saying in a pre-recorded statement: "We, of course, respected those rules. However, we realised it may have looked like something else and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know we would never jump the queue."
