This is why the police helicopter was flying over Swansea on Saturday night

The sound of the police helicopter flying overhead could be heard by many across Swansea on Saturday night.

The National Police Air Service were circling over the Manselton and Brynhyfryd areas in particular as they followed a motorcyclist who had made off from South Wales Police officers.

The vehicle was later tracked down, but had been abandoned.

The force is now continuing their investigations.

"The vehicle was tracked by the helicopter.  The abandoned motorcycle was located and the matter remains under investigation."

Despite appealing for information, police have not revealed the make, model, colour or registration details of the bike. The force has also not stated any details about the description of the rider nor where the bike was found.

A spokesman for said: "Shortly before 9.30pm last night (Saturday, April 19) police officers, supported by the NPAS helicopter were seeking a motorcyclist who had made off from officers.
