The date for the re-opening of the popular Victoria Park splash pad in Cardiff has been confirmed. The colourful splash pad, a popular attraction for children and families, has been closed for the winter, however, Cardiff Council has now confirmed when the splash pad will be re-opening.
The £485,000 facility opened for the first time in 2016 on the site of the former paddling pool in the Canton park. The splash pad has 33 fun features for children to enjoy and is often a busy attraction for families during the late spring and summer.
The council has confirmed that the splash pad will re-open for the summer season on the Saturday of the late May bank holiday weekend - May 27 this year. It appeared as though the splash pad was being cleaned on Tuesday, April 25, in preparation of the opening.
Located in the middle of the Grade II-listed park, the splash pad features water sprays, jets, and a giant tipping water bucket. Set across three separate zones, the splash pad has been designed for toddlers, juniors, and families.
The popular attraction also announced "relaxed" sessions for children with additional needs last year. An hour every Wednesday was run as an inclusive "relaxed session" so that children with additional needs who would benefit from a quieter environment and reduced numbers could enjoy the water park. More information about the splash pad can be found here.
