This is when Cadno Lounge is opening in Neath and what people can expect

Staff at a new lounge-eatery in Neath town centre are busy sorting out the finishing touches at the venue, ahead of it opening to the public later this month. Cadno Lounge is the latest venture from Loungers plc, which has popular venues across the UK, including Zinco Lounge in Swansea, Croeso Lounge in Mumbles, Juno Lounge in Cardiff and Gatto Lounge in Pontypridd, and will open on Wednesday, March 29, management have confirmed.

Loungers has transformed a previously unoccupied unit in Fairfield Way in the town centre, between the new Neath Leisure Centre and the new library, into a "retro-inspired retreat" inspired by a "glamorous bygone era". You can expect quirky, patterned wallpapers, stained glass, eclectic artwork and statement lighting at the eatery, with a choice of seating options from the standard table and chairs to oversized vintage sofas and upholstered lounge chairs.

Cadno, which means "fox" in Welsh, has been designed to be a "home from home" for its customers and will serve a wide range of meals throughout the day and into the evening, including all-day breakfasts, burgers, tapas, salads, sandwiches and paninis, as well as an extensive drinks menu, a Kids Menu and various gluten-free, vegan and other allergy-friendly meals. Confirming the opening date, a spokesperson for Loungers said: "Loungers plc, the West Country-based café/bar group, is opening Cadno Lounge in Neath on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

"A real home from home, Cadno Lounge will cater for all tastes throughout the day with a varied and innovative all-day menu. Whether it’s a coffee with friends, a long lazy brunch with family, or a relaxed dinner and drinks, Cadno Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in good company."

Explaining where the 'Cadno Lounge' name came from, the spokesperson added: "Cadno is Welsh for Fox. There’s a lock on Neath canal called Fox’s Lock and the Fox family were one of the families who founded Neath Abbey Ironworks during the industrial revolution."

Community manager at Loungers, Gemma Irwin, added: "We are delighted to be bringing Loungers to Neath. Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference. They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Cadno Lounge."

Cadno Lounge will be very family-friendly, staff say, with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads available for young ones. High chairs and baby-changing facilities will also be available.

The new lounge will create approximately 27 jobs, with a mixture of front of house and back of house roles currently available. If you're interested, you can find out more on the Loungers website here.
