To celebrate World Emoji Day today, Apple has released a sneak peak of the new emojis set to come to our keyboards in Autumn.
The new designs are destined to add more diversity to the keyboard with new additions to categories across food, animals, activities and smileys.
New characters will include a range of designs to highlight disability - including people in different types of wheelchair, a partially sighted character with a cane, a prosthetic leg and a deaf person.
A free software update later in the year for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch will see the 59 new emoji designs released.
Another change in the major update will see differences to the 'Holding Hands' emojis used to present couples and relationships, where users will soon be able to personalise up to 75 combinations to present couples of different skin tones.
The designs follow Apple's proposal last year to the Unicode Consortium, which is the body that maintains and regulates the library of characters, to introduce more disability-themed emoji.
Additional updates also include a guide dog, a sloth, and a flamingo among animals; a slab of butter, garlic and falafel for food; a much needed yawning face, a Saree and a parachute for other categories.
Apple said: "Celebrating diversity in all its many forms is integral to Apple’s values and these new options help fill a significant gap in the emoji keyboard."
The update also includes a new "drop of blood" icon, which Unicode suggests could be used by women to offer a new way to talk about menstruation.
