A man has taken to TikTok to discuss the price increase that made him realise we are in a cost-of-living crisis.
Many of us have noticed our energy bills increasing, or the price of our weekly shop is on the rise, but for some people it's a price jump on one item that really hammers the cost-of-living crisis home. Shabaz (@shabazsays) posted a video on TikTok to ask his 1.4 million followers what price increase had made them realise the UK is currently in a cost-of-living crisis.
He revealed that the price of one item in the supermarket was what confirmed it for him. Looking at the Haagen-Dazs ice cream at his local supermarket to check for a sale, Shabaz was shocked to see that the normal price for the luxury ice cream is now a whopping £5.10.

Shabaz said: "Right here's a question, what price increase truly made you realise we're in a cost-of-living crisis? I'll go first.
"So yesterday I went to supermarket, right, and listen I already know that we're in a cost-of-living crisis, however, this is the first time that I've truly experienced the cost-of-living crisis. I went to get Haagen-Dazs ice cream, I already know Haagen-Dazs ice cream's expensive, but sometimes it's on offer.
"£5.10! Are you having a laugh? And what gets worse, the tubs gone smaller, they're charging £5.10 and they made the tub of ice cream smaller. Stop it now."
Other people in the comments shared similar experiences. One person said: "The three for £1 sweets in Tesco being 70p each!" another said: "Heinz ketchup £3.50 for a small bottle." and a third person said: "£4.50 for a bag of oven chips. Admittedly it was a big bag but what happened to the term 'cheap as chips!' because APPARENTLY THEY ARENT!".
