Fans of Nando’s are praising the restaurant’s “amazing” employee benefits after a TikTok from a long-time staffer has gone viral.
Chloe Sutherland, 21, started working at Nando’s when she was 16, fitting it around her schoolwork and university education. She has now amassed an impressive five years at the popular chicken chain - and has earned an incredible reward.
As she approached the milestone she received a letter from her employers, giving her four weeks of paid leave on top of her usual holiday. “There must be something that you’ve always wanted to do but never had the time to realise?,” it reads.

“As our way of saying thank you we would love to give you an extra four weeks of paid leave to make that ambition a reality.”
Chloe, who is currently in her final year of her degree, said the holiday was “incredibly exciting”.
“It means a lot because it shows that the employers care about you,” she told the Manchester Evening News. The 21-year-old, who is studying Forensic Linguistics in Winchester, said she isn’t sure how she wants to use her leave yet, but is thinking about travelling the world.
“I’m saving it until after I graduate this summer,” she said. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do, but it means that I’ll be able to make it the best summer ever!”
Chloe was full of praise for her employers, saying that they’d always allowed her to prioritise her education and work flexibly - as well as providing great rewards.
She has been able to take unpaid leave during intense periods of her education, and return to her job when things have calmed down, something she said had allowed her to put her life first and Nando’s second.
The five-year reward isn’t a one-off for long-serving employees - the benefit resets each time you hit the milestone, meaning that if you have a long career with Nandos you’ll be able to take four weeks paid leave every five years!
“I just think it’s a really great initiative and more companies should get on board,” Chloe said.
She uploaded a video of her opening her letter to TikTok, which has gained over 1 million views. And fans of the restaurant were quick to praise them in the comments, with one viewer saying “And THIS is how companies should treat staff.”
