A spectacular Georgian-style mansion in Westchester County, New York, will be sold at auction on May 18th. The expansive home is more than 19,000-square-feet in size and is situated on 86 wooded acres with its own lake. The home is located in Chappaqua, a wealthy enclave that is approximately 35 miles north of Manhattan.
The home was custom-built in 2004 for Stewart Dauman, former CEO of Vision Financial Corporation and chairman of Customer Speaks and his wife, Debra. It was featured in an article entitled “A Timeless New York Mansion” that appeared in The Wall Street Journal in November 2014.
Renowned architect Boris Baranovich, who has been featured in Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, House and Garden and House Beautiful, designed the home. It was designed to look like it was built 100 years ago and is extremely private.
Called Rosewood, the stone manor, which is located at 48 Haights Cross Road, is richly appointed with a slate roof and enveloped in custom artisan-crafted stonework and millwork.
The grandly scaled interior space includes a two-story mahogany-paneled library with a secret staircase hidden behind a bookcase. A game room features a full bar with counter and doubles as a home theater with a drop-down projection screen.
The chef’s kitchen has a breakfast room and is outfitted with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. The home features a grand entryway and eight fireplaces.
In the basement, there is an expansive wine cellar with a tasting room, a large fitness room, sauna and an indoor basketball court.
There are six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. The expansive master bedroom is located in its own separate wing. It has its own sitting room, walk-in custom-designed closet, balcony and an enormous marble bathroom.
The property has an infinity-edged swimming pool. A pool house features two bathrooms and a full kitchen. The property also has a tennis court with a gazebo.
The estate was first listed in 2010 with an original asking price of more than $30 million. It was last put on the market in March for $13.75 million according to public listing records.
Elite Auctions will oversee the live on-site court-authorized bankruptcy auction. The auction will commence at 11:00 A.M. and there will be no reserve, although the winning bid will be subject to United States Bankruptcy Court approval on June 10, 2019.
Chappaqua is one of Westchester County’s premier communities and is known for its highly-regarded public school system. Located 35 miles north of New York City, Chappaqua is easily reached via Metro North and the Saw Mill Parkway.
