Another federal judge has joined in blocking President Donald Trump's executive order that aimed to end birthright citizenship for children of individuals in the U.S. illegally. U.S. District Judge Joseph N. Laplante in New Hampshire issued the latest ruling, following similar decisions by judges in Seattle and Maryland.
Judge Laplante, who was nominated by Republican President George W. Bush, expressed skepticism towards the Trump administration's defense of the executive order. He announced plans to provide a detailed explanation for his decision in a forthcoming preliminary injunction.
The lawsuit challenging the executive order was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, arguing that the order violates the Constitution and undermines a core American constitutional value. The case represents immigrant rights groups with pregnant members whose children could be impacted by the order.

The Trump administration contends that children of noncitizens are not under the jurisdiction of the United States and therefore do not qualify for citizenship. The administration is currently appealing the block imposed by the Seattle-based judge on the executive order.
Notably, a total of nine lawsuits have been initiated to challenge the birthright citizenship order, reflecting the significant legal opposition the policy faces.
