Things to do this February half term in Liverpool and beyond

There are a variety of activities happening in Liverpool and the surrounding area over February half term to keep children entertained.

Whether you’re wanting something fun to do with the whole family or somewhere for your children to learn a new skill, there’s plenty on offer.

We’ve rounded up a selection of things to do in Liverpool and beyond over the February half term.

Otterspool Adventure’s Potterspool

Families heading to Otterspool Adventure over half term can enjoy "Potterspool", an event with a spellbinding show in the Great Hall full of illusions, live animals and some flying friends.

There will also be a Wonderful Wand Emporium, Potterspool-Parade, a hunt for the golden snitch, and a Wizard & Wand shop selling Buttered Beer, chocolate frogs and more.

Visitors can capture the magical day with plenty of photo opportunities, including the Flying Car and the Famous Train Platform.

Potterspool will run from February 19 to 27, 9.30am to 5pm. Tickets cost £17.95 for children and £9.95 for adults. You can book online here.

Imagine That!

Aimed at under 11s, Imagine That! science and discovery centre is offering a three-hour guided journey over half term.

The tour starts in the Imagination Village – a huge space where children can dress up and pretend to be a variety of things, including a vet, shopkeeper and construction worker.

Next, kids will head to the Artbeatz zone where they can splatter a real car with paint, make their own spin art and become a giant pin art sculpture.

Children can make slime at Imagine That! over half term. (Imagine That!)

There's also a Bright Sparks science area with a snow room where children can make their own pot of ‘snow’ before ending the tour at the Slime Factory where kids can make their own slime and bath bombs and play in massive tubs of squishy slime.

Prices are £14.95 per child, £12.95 for under-threes (babies go free) and £7.95 for adults. You can book online here.

Imagine That! is at 6-32 Faraday Rd, Liverpool, L13 1EH and is open from 9.15am until February 28.

Lane7

Head to Lane7 for some bowling fun this half term. The venue is offering a Parent Saver offer which allows children to play two games of bowling and enjoy a soft drink for £10 each.

Yo! Sushi

Children can eat free at Yo! Sushi over half term with a £10 adult spend.

Kids can pick a main, drink, and a side of edamame beans from the childrens’ meal deal menu which will include a selection of new dishes, such as veggie & chicken yakisoba noodles.

A dessert can be added to the offer for just £1.50, and while waiting for their food, kids can get creative with a colouring placemat and pencils.

Liverpool Trampoline Gymnastics Academy

Over February half term, Liverpool Trampoline Gymnastics Academy is hosting a variety of holiday camps.

The fun, semi-structured camp days are led by qualified and experienced staff and are ideal for complete beginners and advanced.

The classes include floor based and trampoline gymnastics and incorporate professional equipment. This includes 12 Olympic Trampolines, Sprung Floor, Tumble Track, Power Track, Foam Pits, Vault and Bars.

Full Day camps (9am to 4pm) cost £20, with Half Day (1pm to 4pm) costing £15. The classes run from Monday 21 to Friday 25. Click here to book one of the February half term holiday camps.

Chester Zoo

Chester Zoo is hosting more than 100 activities and events this February half term to inspire families to discover something new.

Sessions run from February 19 - 27 and are inspired by "rather bizarre and often overlooked" species, such as the scarlet ibis, mountain chicken frogs, giant anteaters and dusky pademelons.

RLB360

Head to Royal Liver Building this half term to enjoy the award-winning RLB360 attraction where you can explore Europe’s first ever skyscraper while immersing yourself in the building’s history through interactive displays.

You will receive a guided tour to the tenth and fifteenth floors where you can take in 360 degree views of the skyline while overlooking the Three Graces.

A world-class digital projection show has been installed inside the historic clock tower, and lights, sounds and digital effects bring the tale of Liverpool’s past to life.

Tickets for the RLB360 experience can be bought here. The visitor centre is free to enter if you wish to learn about the history of the building without taking the tour.

The Beatles Story

From February 23 to 25, The Beatles Story is running a selection of workshops in the museum’s Discovery Zone.

Based around the anniversary of The Beatles’ debut single, the Love Me Do Pop Art workshop allows visitors to take part in plenty of arts and crafts while learning about Pop Art.

The Epstein Theatre

The Epstein Theatre has two shows to keep kids entertained over half term.

First up is The Monkey With No Bum which is being shown on Sunday, February 20 at 1.40pm. This interactive show is based on the popular children’s book by Asa Murphy and features “dancing, music and laughter.”

Meet Headmaster Mr Plop, Miss Jolly and Charlie the Monkey for a fun-filled visit to Jungle School. Suitable for children aged 0 -eight and those young at heart. Tickets cost £13 and can be purchased here.

The second show is Hurrah! For The Pirate King! On Sunday, February 27 at 2.30pm. Pirate King takes families on a “magical musical journey” to find a treasure beyond gold and jewels.

Along the way you’ll meet mysterious creatures, including the Queen of Cats and a singing Mermaid. Tickets cost £13 and can be booked here.

Liverpool Cathedral

Families are invited to explore the wonders of the universe this February half term at the Liverpool Cathedral.

Space, The Universe and Everything is an immersive art experience that surrounds visitors with a display of lights, projections and sound.

It combines the projections of sculptor, Peter Walker, with the beautiful atmospheric sounds of composer, David Harper, the same award-winning artistic collaboration behind Liverpool Cathedral’s acclaimed ‘Angel Wings’ and ‘Peace Doves’.

The installation will come to life every evening after dark between Friday, February 18 and Sunday, February 27.

Tickets for adults cost £8, children/young people £6, and a family of two adults and three children costs £25. Children under three can enter for free. Book online here.

The Playhouse

Children can soar into space with The Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler at The Playhouse over half term.

Set on a far-off planet where Smeds and Smoos can’t be friends, a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together.

There’s plenty of music, laughs and interplanetary adventures perfect for children aged 3 and up.

The Smeds and The Smoos is at the Playhouse from Thursday, February 24, to Saturday, February 26. Tickets cost £14 and can be bought here.

Bates Farm

If you fancy venturing outside of Liverpool, Bates Farm in Warrington is offering families a “day in the life of a farmer” experience.

Over February half term, the farm is opening its doors to let the public meet and cuddle the lambs. You’ll also get to meet the rest of the farm animals, including the bulls and calves, and you’ll get to see the tractors.

The tours are run in small groups, so it's a fun and educational interactive hands-on experience.

There are tickets remaining for February 21 and 22 which can be bought here. The farm plans on releasing more tickets for February 26 and 27.

The Storybarn

This February half term, The Storybarn is letting families experience Books and Brambles which is usually a six-week programme.

The venue will be offering visitors a number of 1.5 hour stand-alone taster sessions in the “warm and cosy” Storybarn.

The stories told will explore nature and include imaginative play and arts and crafts recommended for four to nine year olds.

Sessions run on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am, Tuesday to Thursday at 12pm and 2.30pm, and Friday at 2.30pm. There are no sessions on Monday, February21.

East Lancashire Railway

East Lancashire Railway's February half term events includes a Wizard Adventure day trip and a Dinky Dinosaur Adventure.

ELR’s themed days are ideal for the whole family to enjoy and feature a variety of characters provided by performance company Funcast.

Tatton Park

If your family are wanting a day out away from the city, Tatton Park is hosting a variety of outdoor events this February half term for the whole family to enjoy.

There will be a Scarecrow Festival, Percy the Park Keeper trail and a Parkland Scavenger Hunt.
