Musician Anna Lotterud, better known by her stage name Anna of the North, is an Oslo expert.
Lotterud had a busy few years. After her song 'Lovers' was featured in the Netflix movie To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before in August 2018, it reached more than 40 million streams on Spotify. At that point, the album had been out for almost a year but it catapulted her to fame.
Before 'Lover' became a streaming mainstay, Lotterud was steadily rising to indie pop fame. She appeared on Tyler, the Creator songs 'Boredom' and '911 / Mr. Lonely,' alongside Frank Ocean, and her 2014 viral debut single “Sway” was given a night club-worthy Chainsmokers remix.
Insider caught up with the Oslo native to find out more about her second album, Good at Falling, as well as to talk about her top spots in Oslo, from hipster bars to live music venues.

'It has the best pizza in Oslo. Also a super nice environment. 'Lilo' by The Japanese House fits the vibe perfectly.

'I love my Pisco sours, and this is one of the best places to get them. It's filled with plants, and ivy’s growing /climbing on the walls. The vibe is Jungle's 'Casio' because you're basically in a jungle.'

'This is a super nice restaurant that has a bar next door owned by the same people. You get a great meal and great drinks right next door. They have a pineapple Slurpee with vodka that is so good. The Emotional Oranges song 'Motion' fits the vibe perfectly.

'This is a bar that has a themed night called 'Gypsy Music & Tango' that features a live band every Wednesday. The crowd is mostly older - think 60 plus - and shows me that age is truly just a number. I want to go there every Wednesday when I’m that age! It’s definitely an experience that you don’t want to miss - plus, they also have cheap beer. For this spot I can't recommend anything because you need to listen to the band playing!"
