There’s never a dull weekend in the capital, and this one is no different.
Here’s our pick of what to get up to in London this weekend, whether that’s a four-hour pop music marathon, or a chance to unleash your inner child over in Shoreditch.
Dance to Britney all night long
Calling all Britney Spears megafans: this club night was made for you. Promising four hours of back-to-back classics from the pop icon, with no other artists getting a look in, it’s definitely one for the die-hards — but seeing as the last three editions completely sold out, there are a lot of Britney die-hards out there.
£13.20, March 5, Colours Hoxton, 2-4 Hoxton Square, N1 6NU, dice.fm
Grab a last minute ticket for Davido
Nigerian-American megastar Davido is coming to London this weekend, and there are still a few tickets kicking about if you fancy heading down to the O2 to see him. We’d recommend it: his forward-thinking approach, fusing old-school Afrobeats with slick pop music, has made him an international favourite.
From £45, March 5, the O2, SE10 0DX, theo2.co.uk
Celebrate International Women’s Day at Ballie Ballerson
Ballie Ballerson, the Shoreditch cocktail-bar-meets-ball-pit, is hosting a series of International Women’s Day events, kicking off with a Beyonce-inspired bottomless brunch this weekend. With an all-female cast of DJs behind the decks, tickets include access to 90 minutes in the ball pits, as well as unlimited pornstar martinis, fizz and pizza.
£30, March 6, Ballie Ballerson, 97-113 Curtain Road, EC2A 3BS, shoreditch.ballieballerson.com
Enjoy a new burlesque night in Soho
If you’re of the impression that Soho is all a bit too tourists-and-tasting-menus these days, then head to Louche, a cabaret bar that launched last year with the promise of reviving the “spirit of old Soho”. It’ll kick off a new series of burlesque nights in March, starting this weekend with Boylesque featuring Garcon Diamond, to a soundtrack of vintage vinyl from the in-house DJ.
March 4, 5 Greek Street, W1D 4DD, louchesoho.com
Watch a boozy Shakespeare reimagining
The Old Red Lion Theatre, which shares a building with the Angel boozer of the same name, is hosting this new adaptation of Henry IV, reimagining Prince Hal and Falstaff as two pals drinking pints in the pub, but who must soon sober up to seal their fates. If a lot of modern Shakespeare adaptations are a bit dour, then this one sounds like the opposite.
