Whether it’s a new springtime pop-up to shake off the winter chills, pints poured metres away from the barrels that brewed them, or something to keep the kids entertained as we head into half-term, London has it all this weekend.
Here’s our pick of the events to keep your diary full to the brim.
Take a trip to Japan-on-Thames
After spending the winter as an Alpine ski lodge, Fulham hangout Neverland London has undergone a Japanese-themed makeover in time for spring. Little Kyoto will serve up plenty of east Asian snacks — from bao and sushi to gyoza — and a new range of cocktails with the likes of yuzu and lychee martinis and Midori sours. Japanese arcade games and a riverside bonsai garden are among the other attractions.
Every Thursday to Saturday until May, Neverland, Wandsworth Bridge Road, SW6 2TY, neverlandlondon.com
Celebrate Baby RiRi at Boxpark
The internet was set ablaze last month when Rihanna announced she was expecting a baby with fellow musician A$AP Rocky, and if you feel like celebrating the news, Boxpark has you covered, The Shoreditch branch will be throwing a “baby shower” for the couple, promising a night dedicated to the duo’s best and biggest hits.
Free (register in advance), 5pm-10.30pm, 2-10 Bethnal Green Road, E1 6GY, boxpark.co.uk
Grab a pint with Beavertown
Beavertown, the craft brewery that started life in De Beauvoir Town, has given its north London taproom a fancy do-over and will be welcoming drinkers again from this Saturday. There are now 11 taps serving the brews direct from the source, as well as a rotating cast of local food traders dishing out snacks, comfy new seating and a brand new outdoor space.
From February 12, Unit 17, Lockwood Industrial Park, Mill Mead Road, N17 9QP, beavertownbrewery.co.uk
Keep the kids entertained at Imagine Children’s Festival
Kick off the half-term fun at the Southbank Centre, which launched the Imagine Children’s Festival earlier this week. With dance classes, sleep stories, music workshops and even an orchestra led by none other than Peppa Pig, it’s a brilliant way to foster a love of arts and culture — and more than half of the events are free, making it budget-friendly, too.
Until February 20, Southbank Centre, SE1, southbankcentre.co.uk
Dance at a Amy Winehouse-themed museum late
Running in conjunction with the Design Museum’s excellent Amy Winehouse exhibition, this evening event will celebrate the late music icon. Expect music courtesy of Winehouse’s friend, DJ Bioux, book signings with stylists and photographers, live Winehouse-inspired make-up tutorials, manicures, cocktails and more.
