Things to do in London in May: Four pop-ups worth your time

This month is a packed one — especially for those into their food. There are 25 terrific food and drink pop-ups across town this month (all listed here). But if you’ve had your fill of those — literally or not — then it’s time to head out to explore what else is going on. Here are four of our favourite things to do across town, that should see you through the month.

World Press Photo exhibition

This May sees the return of the World Press Photo exhibition in London, an annual award spotlighting the very best in visual storytelling from news and media sources globally. From studies of dementia in Madagascar to a Palestinian woman clutching the body of her niece, these are the world's most arresting and essential news-led photographs.

May 3 until May 27, Borough Yards, Dirty Lane, SE1 9AD, worldpressphoto.org

Ahead of Anderson’s forthcoming Amazon Prime documentary, Bob Marley: The Making Of A Legend, explore this icon as never seen before.

Saatchi Yates: Tesfaye Urgessa

An inaugural Biennale pavilion in Venice is about as big as it gets in the art world, and Ethiopia’s 2024 debut was a roaring success, thanks in no small part to Tesfaye Urgessa — who now receives a new solo UK show at Saatchi Yates. Issues surrounding migration, race and equality are all explored in these bright, bold works. A must see for any art-lover.

Until June 16, 14 Bury St, St. James's, SW1Y 6AL, saatchiyates.com

Camilla Wordie at the Feelium Gallery: FreeEat to Live or Live to Eat

(Natasha Alipour-Faridani)

Storied food stylist and designer Camilla Wordie presents a vast world of food-forwards still life images, telling stories through food and covering topics from the weekly shop to food as a love language. For anyone hoping to combine their love of food with an artistic edge, this should prove just the ticket.
