'Things change quickly' - Christian Pulisic opens up on Chelsea future amid Newcastle interest

Newcastle United transfer target Christian Pulisic has broken his silence regarding a potential Chelsea exit just weeks before the start of the January window. The USA international was heavily pursued by the Magpies over the summer as Eddie Howe searched for further attacking firepower.

Pulisic has since featured 13 times in the Premier League and played in all of his country's games at the Qatar World Cup. Now, attention has turned to a potential Chelsea exit next month with Newcastle still among the clubs linked with a move for the attacker.

Speaking to the Indirect Podcast, Pulisic admits he is focused on the Blues but things can 'change quickly' when it comes to interested parties. “I mean, right now I’m absolutely back at Chelsea and focused and ready to finish the season, but you know how things work in football," he said.

"Things change quickly and anything can happen. At the moment I am just pushing myself in training and working at Chelsea because that’s where I am right now."

Howe has held initial discussions with Newcastle's sporting director Dan Ashworth ahead of next month's window. The north east outfit spent big 12 months ago as the threat of relegation loomed large, though a measured approach is expected this time around.

"I think the big thing is that there’s a lot that can change between now and January, so we’ve talked and had discussions about what it may look like," Howe told reporters during the recent trip to Saudi Arabia. "But there’s such a long time before that window opens, we’re still very flexible in terms of what we’re going to do.”
