Thieves steal car after breaking into Dumbarton house and nicking owner's keys

Thieves stole a car after breaking into a Dumbarton house and nicking the owner’s keys.

Police have launched an appeal over the theft which took place in the early hours of this morning.

Around 1.10am on Thursday, 28 April, 2022, three men broke into a property on Campbell Avenue and stole the keys to a white Audi S5 (reg. EG16 SON) before driving off in the car.

The first suspect was wearing a grey/black jacket with the hood up, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.

The second suspect was wearing a blue hooded top, back jogging bottoms and blue trainers and the third suspect was wearing a dark jumper with a grey hood/snood, jogging bottoms and trainers. All three suspects were wearing face coverings and gloves.

Detective Constable Iain Allison, of Clydebank CID, said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who has information or who may live in the area and heard or saw anything suspicious to contact police immediately.

“Likewise, if anyone was in the area and has dash-cam footage, CCTV or doorbell cameras I would encourage you to check your footage for anything of relevance.

“Although the property was secure, I would also like to take this opportunity to remind homeowners to review their security - make sure to keep your doors and windows locked at all times.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0129 of 28 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
