Thierry Henry urges Juventus to follow Arsenal approach and stick with Massimiliano Allegri

Thierry Henry believes Mikel Arteta’s job at Arsenal should offer a blueprint for Juventus to follow.

Massimiliano Allegri has struggled since returning to the club last year, failing to arrest a decline that to have set in upon his departure in 2019.

While previously dominant in Serie A, Juve have finished only fourth since their last League title win in 2020.

Allegri replaced Antonio Conte – who has been linked with a return – in 2014, leading the Old Lady to five consecutive Scudettos as well as two Champions League finals.

In an effort to grow into a more progressive brand of football, Allegri was replaced by Maurizio Sarri before club legend Andrea Pirlo took over.

That move away from Allegri’s relentlessly dominant team, however, has not worked out and a club previously heralded for their astute work in the transfer market have since seen their recruitment strategy questioned.

While Allegri has been publicly backed by director Pavel Nedved, Juve’s situation got worse on Tuesday night.

Sitting eight in the League, they were knocked out of the Champions League group stages in a 4-3 loss to Benfica.

Still, Henry - who moved to Arsenal from Juve in 1999 – urged the club to stick with the former AC Milan manager.

Arteta has frequently been questioned during his time in north London but is now repaying the club’s trust by leading a title challenge.

“We’ve seen it with Arteta,” Henry told CBS Sports.

“It took him two years to put a decent team on the field and people were having a go so are you going to stay with the man?

“Are you not going to stay with the man?”
