Thierry Henry has stepped down from his position as manager of France's youth teams following a successful campaign at the Paris Olympics, as confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday. Henry, a World Cup winner with France in 1998, attributed 'personal reasons' for his departure, as stated in the FFF press release.
In expressing his gratitude, Henry acknowledged the FFF and Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, for entrusting him with the role. He described winning a silver medal at the Olympics as one of the proudest moments of his life and thanked the Federation, players, staff, and supporters for the memorable experience.
During the Olympic tournament, Henry's team, comprising U23 players and three overage selections, secured victories against Argentina and Egypt to reach the final in Paris. However, they were ultimately defeated 5-3 by Spain in extra time.
Diallo commended Henry for his professionalism in the official statement and revealed that the FFF is actively seeking a new coach to lead the team in the upcoming U21 Euro 2025 qualifiers.
Prior to his role with the French youth teams, Henry managed Ligue 1 side Monaco and MLS club Montreal Impact. He also served as an assistant coach under Roberto Martinez for the Belgium national team.
