Thierry Henry gives major Arsenal Champions League prediction with scathing Tottenham dig

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has said that Tottenham Hotspur will ‘never’ take advantage of any Gunners’ slip-ups with the two sides chasing a place in the top four.

The two north London sides are currently embroiled in an intense battle for a Champions League place come the end of the campaign.

The Gunners currently sit sixth and four points behind Manchester United, who occupy fourth place. Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s men are currently labouring in eighth - albeit both sides having three games in hand on the Red Devils.

It of course remains to be seen whether the duo will be able to close the gap as those games get played throughout the closing stages of the season but the Gunners look in better form to do that.

They have won three out of their last five league games, whilst last weekend’s clash against Chelsea was rescheduled due to the Blues’ commitments in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Elsewhere, Spurs have tasted defeat in each of their last three league games which includes a poor 2-0 defeat to one of their European rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers on home soil.

Thierry Henry has now given his verdict on the race for a return to the Champions League and is backing his former side but believes that failure could be damaging for the Gunners and Mikel Arteta.

Speaking to CBS, the French icon said: “The best thing about Arsenal is that they didn’t play. West Ham didn’t take advantage of it. Tottenham has never taken advantage of it.

“But Arsenal had to go and win at Wolves. That was a massive win, so there are still a lot of games to go.

“For me, if they don’t do it, as I said at the start of the season, then it will be a failure.”

Of course, a fourth-placed finish would mark significant progress for Arsenal after a disappointing couple of campaigns. The Gunners have not played in the Champions League since the 2016/17 season and missed out on European football altogether this term.
