A burglar walked into a hospital and stole a number of items belonging to staff. Wesley Trevett also wandered into an 89-year-old woman's home in the middle of the day and stole £300 during a two-month crime spree.
Trevett, 42, has been jailed for more than two years, at Bolton Crown Court, after admitting to four burglaries between August and October 2021. He also pleaded guilty to an attempted burglary.
Prosecution barrister Philip Hall told the court that the first incident took place in the early hours of August 10, in Newbrook Road, Bolton. Trevett was caught on a ring doorbell walking up to a front door, pulling a mask over his face, and trying the handle. He then looked through the window of a car parked outside, before walking away.

In a victim personal statement, the homeowner said that there was a small child in the house at the time. He added: "I work seven days a week. It's annoying that some people think they can just go and take from others."
On September 19, Trevett, of Clivedale Place, targeted another house in Bolton - belonging to an 89-year-old deaf woman. Mr Hall said that Trevett crept into the home through the back patio doors, which had been left open.
He took the woman's handbag, house keys and £300 in cash before leaving through the front door. The victim only knew that she had been burgled when she noticed that the door was wide open.
The woman later received a call from a good Samaritan, who found her handbag and returned it. In a victim personal statement, she said that it had left her "shaken" and that she feels "horrible" that someone had been in her home without her knowing.
A few days later, on September 22, Trevett burgled a house in Highfield Road, Farnworth, and stole a purse. The victim only realised when she got a notification on her phone to tell her that someone had tried using her cards. She said she "couldn't sleep for weeks" afterwards.
On September 29, Trevett carried out the first of two burglaries at Royal Bolton Hospital. Mr Hall told the court that a trainee biomedical scientist had left her handbag in a code-locked seminar room.
Trevett gained access to the room and stole it. Mr Hall told the court that the lock appeared to have been "tampered with in some way."
Then on October 1, Trevett struck again, stealing an ID card, keys, food, and £30 from the 'tea fund'. He was arrested later that day and police found a number of the items that he stole from the hospital.
Trevett made no admissions to police in interview but told them that he has a long-term addiction to heroin. He eventually pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.
The court heard that Trevett has 33 convictions for 84 offences, including an extensive history of theft and burglary. He was defended by barrister John Mark Richards.
Mr Richards told the court that Trevett has been on remand since November 9 and has written a letter of apology. He said: "For the first time since he was around 13 or 14, he wants to come off drugs.
"He has had many chances in the past. He wants now to change. He wants now to come off drugs
"He is now 42-years-old and realises that the path is one of two ways; attempting to come off drugs or going back to prison and an early death."
Mr Richards added that Trevett had a ten year gap between 2011 and 2021 where he didn't offend and claimed that this showed he can stay out of trouble.
Judge Tom Gilbart jailed Trevett for two years and three months. He said: "It is because victims are left to feel worried about the safety and security of their homes that dwelling house burglaries must be viewed seriously."
Referencing the 89-year-old victim, he continued: "This was a vulnerable elderly person inside her own home. She was entitled to enjoy the peace and security of her house."
