A woman who failed to comply with any of the terms of her suspended prison sentence order has now found herself behind bars.
A judge heard that Donna Thomas was even caught shoplifting in a supermarket the day after the order had been imposed in May.
Her barrister Brendan Carville said the 47-year-old, who has never served a prison term before, was resigned to having to go to jail.

“She will be sober and free from drugs when she comes out and will take the help offered her by the probation service,” he said.
Recorder Richard Conley told her: “Yours is a sad case because for 46 years you were a law-abiding person. Something must have happened to knock your life off the rails.
“I was sorry to read it appears you were the victim of some domestic abuse which seems to have led you into drug abuse.
“Help has been offered to you but you have realistically accepted you are not quite ready to take the help that is available. I hope when you come out in a month’s time you will be clean and in a position to stay out of trouble."
Thomas, of Morecambe Street, Anfield, pleaded guilty to being in breach of a suspended prison sentence and theft.
Suzanne Payne, prosecuting, had told the court that the defendant had been given a community order last year for nine thefts and possessing a bladed article but this was later revoked and she was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment.
This was appealed and varied to a suspended sentence on May 13 this year with conditions including rehabilitation days and a drugs course but despite repeated requests she had not even turned up for the induction day.
“There were five unacceptable absences,” said Ms Payne.
The day after the suspended sentence was imposed she was caught shoplifting joints of meat and two car battery chargers from Lidl on Edge Lane. When stopped she claimed she was going to pay for the £80 worth of property with her bank card but when this was checked there were insufficient funds anyway.
The court heard that Thomas has six previous convictions for 13 offences.
Recorder Conley activated the eight week jail sentence and did not impose any extra imprisonment.
“I don’t particularly want to send you to prison but there is no point in giving you another chance for you not to take it and I accede to your request to draw a line under these proceedings and activate the sentence,” he said.
