Thibaut Courtois provides funny response when asked if he will ever join Newcastle United

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has jokingly responded to a Newcastle United fan’s question on whether he would join the Magpies. Courtois is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment following his match-winning performance in the Champions League final against Liverpool last month.

The Belgium international made nine saves as Real won their 14th European Cup trophy in Paris, defeating the Reds 1-0 thanks to Vinicius Junior’s goal. With Newcastle set to go into their first summer transfer window under their new ownership, optimism is clearly high on who they are set to target.

A goalkeeper appears to figure on their list of priorities with the likes of Dean Henderson, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Bernd Leno having all been linked. But one Newcastle supporter has aimed right for the very top, posing Courtois the question as to whether he would ever make the switch to St. James’ Park.

Courtois provided a sarcastic response: “I have a friend who’s a massive fan. So you have my sympathy for sure. Btw this friend said two hours before the final we would lose 3-0. I got p****d and said I would save everything.”

A pretty emphatic no from Courtois, who is probably content at scooping all the big trophies at Real Madrid every season. However, if Newcastle are able to get their recruitment right in the coming years and progress their way into the Champions League, then perhaps players of his calibre may not be such a pipe dream as they are now.
