Thiago Silva drops team news hint ahead of Chelsea clash with Tottenham

Chelsea take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in a huge battle in the race for the top-four on Sunday afternoon.

Antonio Conte can move to within five points of his former club with a win at Stamford Bridge with Thomas Tuchel desperate for a much-needed three points.

A 1-1 draw with Brighton on Tuesday night means they now sit 13 points behind Manchester City in the title race and the club's more immediate concern may revert to maintaining their place in the top four.

In their past seven Premier League games, Chelsea have secured just one win, with the pressure starting to mount.

Tottenham will come into the game with a lot of wind in their sails having scored twice in injury time to beat Leicester 3-2 on Wednesday night.

But Tuchel will take confidence from two comfortable wins against Spurs in the Carabao Cup semi-final recently.

The German will have a number of selection headaches ahead of the clash, however, with his attacking unit particularly letting him down in recent weeks.

Following their defeat to Manchester City, Tuchel was heavily critical of his offensive unit.

"We had eight or nine offensive transitions, but had zero touches in the box," he told BT Sport after full-time.

"That was a big problem today, the performance of our front players - a lack of position, timing and composure."

While strikers and wingers continue to be the bain of Tuchel's job, his defensive unit remains his pride and joy.

They may not have covered themselves in glory when it came to Brighton's equaliser in midweek, but the manager can usually rely on his three centre-backs to put in a top performance.

On Sunday morning, Thiago Silva dropped a hint on his Instagram that he would once again be starting.

He scored against Spurs when managed by Nuno Espirito Santo in what was an outstanding individual performance, and in a big game like this, Tuchel is sure to want his most experienced man on the pitch.
