Thiago Silva drops huge Chelsea team news hint ahead of Real Madrid Champions League clash

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be hoping his side can react well from their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford last time out in the Premier League. A Vitaly Janelt double, followed by goals from Christian Eriksen and Yoane Wissa, managed to turn the game around for the Bees after Antonio Rudiger’s thunderous strike.

Discussing the nature of the defeat after the game, the Blues’ boss couldn’t quite pinpoint what went wrong, saying: “We gave a big chance straight away after the goal, and then the next one was a goal. From there, we did not defend mature enough.

“We were not aware of the danger in these moments which is also very strange for us. We got punished. They made the most of these ten minutes which is maybe not normal. So it's a summary of strange events but it's on us and it's our fault.”

The German coach will certainly be hoping his side can turn their fortunes around swiftly after, with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals up next. One key decision he will have is over his choice between a back four or a back three, with Chelsea so often playing the latter this season, but choosing a four in their capitulation against Brentford.

The makeup of the defence may be unknown, with Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva starting last time out, but Andreas Christensen and Trevoh Chalobah are also available for selection in the backline. But ahead of the crucial fixture, Silva may have dropped a hint over the team to start the game.

Taking to Instagram, the Brazilian posted a pre-match hype graphic of himself gearing up for the game against Los Blancos. It means he could be one of the key centre-backs either in a three or a four depending on how Tuchel wants to match up with Carlo Ancelotti’s system, however this is often posted before a game and doesn’t necessarily mean he is a guarantee to start.
