Thiago Silva and Mason Mount amongst Chelsea nominees for Fans' Footballer of the Year award

The nights are drawing in, advent has started and as 2022 draws to a close is becomes time to reflect. It has been a turbulent year for Chelsea who have seen sanctions, new owners, plenty of player turnover and even new head coach with no shortage of highs and lows.

The Blues managed to win the Club World Cup, reach the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals, as well as secure a place in the top four despite some faltering form but the latter part of the year has seen Chelsea sitting eighth in the table and off the pace in the Premier League.

Nevertheless the opportunity returns for you to vote for your Chelsea player of the year in the third edition of the competition. Previous winners Edouard Mendy (2021) and Mason Mount (2020) remain in the Blues squad, with the latter a contender for the award once again.

You can decide whether he is worthy by taking part in our vote below, or by clicking here if the FFOTY widget does not display.

As well as voting for the Chelsea award you will also be able to vote for the overall winner of the Fans' Footballer of the Year. Chelsea writer Scott Trotter put forward his four nominations for the west London side, so be sure to leave your vote and leave a comment with your say on Chelsea's best performer in 2022.

Thiago Silva

The Brazilian may have turned 38 this year but he remains as silky on the eye as ever. Few would have believed how important he would become for the Blues when signed for free in 2020. Silva has played more Premier League minutes than any of his teammates this term and while he may look furious anytime he is made to sprint, it’s only because he has so much quality

Trevoh Chalobah

The 23-year-old enjoyed a surprise breakout season in 2021/22 and picked up starts in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals. Injuries this term have seen Chalobah take on an increasingly important role and he has stepped up his quality to match. His tenacity and resilience ensures no forward has an easy time against him.

Reece James

Perhaps the only thing stopping Reece James being a runaway winner is his injury record during 2022. His absence has only reaffirmed his quality and importance to Chelsea however. More than any other player at the club, James stands out as a true contender for the best player in his position in the world.

Mason Mount

Has so often been Chelsea’s pillar of consistency and is on his way to 200 Chelsea appearances in just his third season with the first team. The Cobham product has the ability to be a functional part of the system or run the show with plenty of freedom. His start to 2022/23 may have been slower than we’ve come to expect but he remains among Chelsea’s most eminent contributors towards goals.
