With his career reaching its latter stages, Thiago Silva is already making plans for the future. Even at the age of 38, the Chelsea defender is still a reliable performer for the Blues, starting 32 Premier League games last season, and playing every minute so far this term.
The Blues centre-back is looking to pursue a career in management once his playing days are over and Brazil manager Tite believes he will be a success in the dugout. He said: ""He will be a good coach. And he’s bad for football. Do you know why he’s bad for football? Because he makes things so easy and they’re hard as hell. He manages to make the clearest, most lucid, transparent decisions with impressive technical performance."

Even though he's putting plans in place for the future, Silva still has a crucial role to play at Chelsea, and wants to be part of Graham Potter's long-term plans at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a plethora of options at centre-back with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana and Cesar Azplilceuta all vying for a spot, but the fact Silva has been an ever-present so far this season shows how valued he is at Chelsea.
Silva's contract in west London is up at the end of the season, but the defender has set a target of playing for at least another two years.
"My aim is to play until I'm 40 years old but I don’t know if it will be this level or this competition," Silva told Chelsea's club website.
"It depends on this season and we’ll see what will happen in the World Cup. It also depends on a contract extension but yeah, my aim is to play until I’m 40."
