Thiago sends five-word message to Liverpool fans after reaching milestone

Liverpool midfielder Thiago believes the best is 'yet to come' as he marks two years since his arrival from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The Spain international made the move to Merseyside on this day in 2020, having spent seven years in Germany. He's so far made 73 appearances for the Reds, with three goals and five assists in all competitions.

Since joining Liverpool, he's won the FA Cup and played an integral role in reaching the Champions League final last season. He's still got two years remaining on the deal he signed in 2020 and he believes there is plenty more to come with this team.

The midfielder replied to an Instagram post from the club, marking two years since his arrival. He said in the comments: "Best is yet to come!"

Jurgen Klopp 's side have had a difficult start to the season so far as they sit eighth in the table with nine points out of a possible 18. The team's poor form coincided with a spell on the sidelines for the 31-year-old, who picked up an injury in the opening game against Fulham last month.

Thiago made his first start since the injury midweek when Liverpool edged past Ajax 2-1 in the Champions League, a late winner courtesy of defender Joel Matip. Speaking after the victory, the former Bayern star says Liverpool look like themselves again after a poor start to the season.

“We came from a not very good, unwanted time," said Thiago. "But we always believe in this team. The basis of this team is work, so we keep working, we keep improving things that weren’t right."

He continued: "I think it’s our thing, something that happens practically inside the locker room, that is talked about, that gets better inside the locker room. But the main thing as a summary is that we are us again.”
