'They would snap your hands off' - Neville explains why Man United should move for Harry Kane

Gary Neville has insisted that Manchester United would not hesitate to make Harry Kane their record signing, even if the Reds have to pay £100m to sign the England captain.

Kane has long been admired by figures at United but with the Spurs striker having entered the final year of his deal with the London club, this summer looks like the best opportunity United will have to buy the frontman.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in 2024 and it is thought that talks are yet to be opened over an extension. Tottenham are desperate for Kane to sign a new deal with the London club, but it remains to be seen if the England international wants to commit his future to Spurs.

Should Kane turn down a new Tottenham contract, he would leave for free at the end of next season. Alternatively, he could leave for a reduced fee in January of next year. Given that the striker turns 30 in the summer, Neville believes that United would 'snap your hands off' to sign Kane for £100m at the end of the campaign.

"How many years has he got left on that 26-year deal that he signed?!" Neville jokingly asked on The Overlap. "Is it two years? He’s not got one [year left, at the end of the season] has he?!

"I think if you said to Manchester United right now with the fact that they’ve got no centre forward at all hardly; ‘£100m for Harry Kane?’ they would snap your hands off. If you said to United now £100m for Harry Kane they would snap your hands off."

Kane recently became Spurs' all-time top goalscorer, having scored 267 goals for the London outfit. He has registered 200 goals in 304 Premier League appearances.

The Reds' current transfer record is the £89m they spent on Paul Pogba in 2016. Antony arrived at Old Trafford last summer for a fee of £85m, but United have never broken the £100m mark.
