Following a second day of training camp, New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker said that his Achilles injury isn’t holding him back.
Last October Vera-Tucker suffered the season-ending injury in a Jets win at the Denver Broncos. The former first-round pick, taken in the 2012 NFL draft, is a huge part of raised expectations for the Jets and their offense.
Vera-Tucker is pleased where he is at with his development right now. This is now his second practice in Jets training camp.
“The Achilles feels really good, never feel that in practice,” VeraTucker told reporters on Saturday.
“If anything, it is typical football soreness. Good to go.”
Vera-Tucker said there are more hurdles to clear in terms of making sure he is feeling well and progressing the right way.
But that doesn’t matter, at lease now following his practice on Friday.
“It feels really good, just being back out there with the guys – something you really miss when you’re not out there,” Vera-Tucker said.
“Missing OTAs hurt, it is what it is, had to be done. Being back out there for camp – loving it, feeling great. Mentally, physically feeling really, really good
