Jonathan Woodgate has predicted that Manchester City could "blow up" after the devastation of losing their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
The former Newcastle United and Real Madrid defender watched on from the Bernabéu as Man City's big night went wrong and he feels it could have ramifications for Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. Newcastle will the next team tasked to test City's title race mettle in the North-West.
Woodgate, speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, said: "What ramifications does that have on the league? They could blow up after this.
"Such a distressing loss. You could not write it. Phenomenal football by Real Madrid and City had no comeback.
"What a game of football. It’s probably the best I have ever seen. An incredible performance by Real Madrid."
United go to City as massive underdogs on Sunday but with Liverpool facing Spurs first on Saturday night there could be an extra psychological edge to the game for the hosts. A Liverpool win would knock Man City off the top of the table overnight.
