'They are there' - Ian Wright makes admission over Liverpool owners FSG

Ian Wright has praised Liverpool's owners FSG for listening to the fans and making the necessary changes when things haven't gone to plan.

The Reds have enjoyed a resurgence under FSG and their manager Jurgen Klopp, winning the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.

The Boston-based owners have made mistakes with Wright citing their plan to raise ticket prices at Anfield, which saw thousands of fans leave the ground during a 2-2 home draw with Sunderland six years ago this weekend, and their backing of the failed European Super League last year.

But the Arsenal legend has been impressed with the way FSG have righted those wrongs and the fact that they've always backed Klopp and and spent shrewdly.

“With FSG and what they tried to do, with the ticket stuff,” said Wright speaking to Premier League Productions. “They listened to the fans.

“Same thing with the Super League. They listened. They realised: ‘Oh, we kind of made a mistake on that. Bam! We won’t do that no more’.

“I think with FSG, they are there. But you can’t really notice that they are. If they do make a slip-up, bam, they put it right straightaway.

“They are very astute businessmen. They aren’t going to waste the money.

"Liverpool will buy who they will target to buy – I think they have to be commended for the way they back the manager. Spending nowhere near as what other teams are spending.”

The Reds next play on Sunday, against Cardiff City in the FA Cup, a trophy the club is yet to win under the ownership of FSG.
