Former England international Darren Bent has claimed Manchester United's Harry Maguire did not deserve to be booed during his side's victory over the Ivory Coast on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions ran out 3-0 winners at Wembley Stadium, however, the victory was overshadowed by supporters voicing their displeasure towards Maguire both before and during the match. An angry Gareth Southgate commented at full-time: "I thought the reception was a joke, an absolute joke.
"What he's done for us, the way he's performed for England has been phenomenal. I don't get it."

Declan Rice echoed the views of the England boss, tweeting: "Total embarrassment from whoever booed. Harry Maguire has been incredible every single time he's put on the England shirt. Absolute nonsense it is becoming. Back your own players."
Meanwhile, captain Harry Kane added: "We've worked hard to rebuild our connection with England fans in the last few years so to hear Harry Maguire booed at Wembley before kick-off was just not right. The fact that he has been brilliant on the pitch and given us all so many great memories makes it even harder to understand."
And now, Bent has joined the condemnation of those who booed the United captain. He told talkSPORT: "It is a little bit poor booing Harry Maguire because he does not deserve that.
"I would not go into someone else's place of work if they were doing a bad job and start booing them. At the end of the day, it is life.
"Regardless of how much you earn, and listen, these guys earn a fortune, they are still human beings. He does not deserve to get booed, for what reason?"
