'They are angry' - Patrice Evra disagrees with Chris Sutton with Aston Villa vs Liverpool prediction

Liverpool are gearing up for their return to Premier League action as they face Aston Villa.

The Reds take on Villa in their Boxing Day clash this evening at Villa Park. It will be their first top flight fixture since the World Cup where they beat Southampton 3-1 on November 12.

Jurgen Klopp ’s side go into the game in sixth place in the league table and seven points adrift of the Champions League places, with a game in hand. Liverpool recently lost to Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, and will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has predicted that Liverpool will get their league campaign back underway with a victory. Evra has tipped the Reds to claim a 3-1 victory at Villa Park.

Evra told Betfair : "I saw Liverpool in the Dubai Cup and you can feel that they are angry. Their hunger is back.

“They will want to come back strong for the second part of the season and I can see them starting with a win in this one."

However, former Blackburn striker Chris Sutton disagrees with Evra and believes that Liverpool will suffer a defeat to Villa. The pundit has predicted that the Reds will lose 1-0 in their Boxing Day contest.

Sutton told the BBC : “Liverpool looked pretty lively against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Thursday but they missed some big chances and also looked quite leaky at the back.

“I can see there being at least one surprise result in this first round of games back after the World Cup and I think Villa boss Unai Emery will fancy his chances of sneaking this one.”
