SEVEN chip shops in Scotland have been named among the UK's top 40 in a new list released by the National Federation of Fish Friers.
The organisation, which hosts the annual Fish and Chip Awards, has shared its "nationally recognised" list of fish and chip takeaways to mark the arrival of Good Friday and the Easter weekend.
Discussing the list, the National Federation of Fish Friers’ president, Andrew Crook said Good Friday is a huge trading day for chippies all across the country, thanks to the thousands of eager customers looking to enjoy the holiday staple.
He added that being included among the UK's top fish and chip takeaways is a "huge achievement," with many of these outlets "working extremely hard" to make it where they are now.
The Fish Works in Largs named Scotland's best chippy
The Fish Works in Largs was dubbed the best fish and chip takeaway in Scotland after being named runner-up for the Takeaway of the Year title.
The fish and chip shop, which is located on the town's iconic promenade, has received much praise over the years, with customers giving it a 4.1/5 out of 434 reviews on Tripadvisor.
One patron said: "This place keeps winning awards, and it’s easy to understand why.
"Gorgeous, clean restaurant with an open kitchen so you can see everything being freshly prepared".
They went on to highlight the "friendly and professional" staff employed here as well as the "incredible" food on offer.
