Only three events remain in the FedEx Cup Fall, and there’s plenty of incentive for those who finish 51-60 in the FexEx Cup Standings.
While everyone who finished the 2022-23 regular season in the top 70 qualified for the playoffs, only those who made the BMW Championship, the top 50, earned spots in every signature event for the 2024 season. Those finishing 51-70 were guaranteed spots in all full-field events, but it’s going to be harder to earn spots in signature events next year.
However, players who finish 51-60 after the FedEx Cup Fall earn spots in the first two signature events of the 2024 season: the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
Here’s a look at which players are on the verge of punching their ticket into the first pair of 2024 signature events.
51. Beau Hossler
Barring something crazy, Hossler seems well on his way to earning his invite to Pebble Beach and Riviera. He has five top-10 finishes this season, including a T-2 at the Zozo Championship last week.
52. Taylor Montgomery
The rookie struggled in the summer after a stellar start to his Tour career, but a T-16 finish at the Zozo has put Montgomery in a position to essentially clinch his spot in the first two signature event fields next year.
53. Nick Hardy
Hardy won the Zurich Classic back in April with teammate Davis Riley for his first Tour victory. He has also played in each of the first four fall events to solidify his position in the standings.
54. Ben Griffin
Griffin came oh-so-close to earning his first Tour victory earlier this month at the Sanderson Farms Championship, falling in a five-way playoff. Regardless, he’s again in a good spot to earn spots at Pebble Beach and Riviera.
55. Alex Smalley
A T-16 at the Sanderson Farms gave Smalley a good boost in FedEx Cup points, and he’s also in a strong position with three events to go. He has four top 10s this season and a runner-up finish at the John Deere Classic.
56. J.J. Spaun
Since the start of the FedEx Cup Fall, Spaun is the only player to move into the 51-60 cutoff for signature events, pushing out Sam Ryder. A T-6 at the Zozo Championship is a big reason for his jump.
57. Mackenzie Hughes
The winner of the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship has had a quiet season since his second Tour victory, but nevertheless he has a 52-point buffer between he and the 61st position in the standings.
58. Stephan Jaeger
Jaeger has been consistent this season, making all but three cuts in his 31 starts. However, only 28 points separate him from Mark Hubbard, who sits 61st in the standings, with three events left. He’ll need to continue his strong play in whatever events he decides to play.
59. Luke List
List sat at 119th in the FexEx Cup Standings entering the fall. He made a huge jump after his playoff victory at the Sanderson Farms Championship, however, his spot in the signature events is not guaranteed. He’s only 11 points in front of 61st, so List likely needs to do more to guarantee his spot at Pebble Beach and Riviera.
60. Thomas Detry
As of now, Detry is in the 60th spot, however, he and Hubbard in 61st are separated by only one point. Detry has played in only one fall event, a T-51 finish at the Zozo. It’s safe to say he’ll need more points to assure his spot in the signature events.
