How do I know I've found a good Shark vacuum deal?
First, decide on a set of features and performance metrics that are non negotiable for you, whether it's pet hair pickup, HEPA filters, or Shark's famous anti-odor tech. Then, see what's on offer, and assess whether you're getting what you need, or if Shark's marketing claims are leading you to spending money you don't need to.
To know if the deal itself is genuinely a good one, you can check the item's price history and trends across other sites. On Amazon, you can use the price checker CamelCamelCamel which will display the price history. Sometimes retailers will up the prices before sale events so that it looks like you're saving more than you are, so this website will prevent this.
Another great site is Honey, which you can install as an extension on your computer. It'll let you know if the price you're looking at is the best you can find anywhere else online, and it often has price history across different online stores so you can really see how much items sell for.

Is Prime Day the best time to buy a Shark vacuum?
When shopping for any appliance, especially vacuum cleaners, waiting for big sale events is the smart move. During these periods, vacuums are typically reduced by hundreds of dollars, and it might be the lowest price you'll find all year.
Black Friday and Prime Day are the major sale events where you'll find these huge discounts. Black Friday naturally offers more choice and variation, but Prime Day has given us impressive deals time and time again.
How we test

We trial vacuums in our test center and in our own homes for several weeks, and sometimes months, before we write our reviews. We test each vacuum on carpet, linoleum, and wood flooring. We use them to pick up flour and sugar, which are common kitchen spills, and pretty good proxies for dust and dead skin; cereal, which makes a great crumb test; and old hair extensions, to see whether hair gets caught in the rollers.
We also make sure to test vacuums in homes with pets, so we can see how well each vacuum picks up pet hair and removes pet smells, as well as how the pets reacted to the sound of the machine.
