Therese Coffey interview interrupted by her Dr Dre alarm

Therese Coffey's interview on LBC was interrupted by her Dr Dre alarm

IT’S been a whirlwind 24 hours for Therese Coffey. Having been appointed Health Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister, she has spent much of the morning talking about her "ABCD" for "ambulances, backlogs, care, doctors and dentists".

Perhaps that last letter should in fact be for Dr Dre, who interrupted one of her first interviews in the job.

Don’t get too excited, the rapper and co-founder of Beats didn’t stroll into the LBC studio to quiz Coffey on her plans to tackle the various problems facing the NHS.

Instead, the new Deputy PM was interrupted by her Dr Dre alarm during her interview with Nick Ferrari.

As she was being quizzed about her suitability for the new role, Ferrari could be heard saying: “Are you alright over there? Have you got a phone ringing? Are you okay?

Coffey replied: “I’ve just realised my alarm is going off on my phone. You’re getting a bit of Dr Dre. It’s just an eight o’clock alarm”

The irony of Dr Dre being the alarm for the woman now responsible for the NHS certainly wasn’t lost on Ferrari, who said: “Well Dr Coffey with Dr Dre as the Health Secretary, it just gets better and better doesn’t it.”

One Twitter user even brilliantly suggested that Coffey “insists everyone call her Dr Tre”.

It seemed others, however, were not entirely convinced the incident wasn’t staged and that it was a thinly veiled attempt on Coffey’s part to show she’s in touch with the rest of us.

One user said it was “100% a tactic to get views” whilst another added: “I hope she knows Dr Dre isn’t that kind of doctor.”

Given that earlier this morning, Coffey had been quizzed on her stance on abortion rights, it could be that the Dr Dre interruption was intended to distract from the bigger issues.

The Jouker hopes that the 8am alarm is not normally used to wake up Coffey given that the majority of the country is probably on their way to work by that stage.

Who knows though? After all, the UK Government has been asleep at the wheel for a couple of months now.

Not many would have had their money on Dr Dre being the one to wake them up.
