There’s another, bigger Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League delay

Rocksteady announced another Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League delay to help make the multiplayer game “the best quality” it can be. The team now plans on releasing the Suicide Squad game on Feb. 2, 2024, roughly nine months after it was meant to release in 2023.

“We have made the tough, but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players,” Rocksteady said in its announcement on Twitter. “Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience, and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead, and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.”

This delay is the latest in what appears to have been a troubled development cycle. Rocksteady announced a shorter delay of a few months after Kill the Justice League’s 20-minute deep dive during February’s State of Play. The showing received a largely negative reaction, as viewers criticized the shooter game’s structure and battle pass.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said his sources told him this delay has nothing to do with that poor reception, however. Schreier said the team was told the delay is just to polish the existing game and pointed to Starfield’s nine-month delay as another example of how complicated the finishing process is for large games such as Kill the Justice League.

That February appearance was the first we’ve seen of Kill the Justice League in a while. The game made an appearance briefly in 2022, and Rocksteady announced Kevin Conroy would voice Batman, after the actor’s death near the end of the year.
