There’s a Neighbours tour and it’s coming to Cardiff

Fans were left devastated when it was revealed that, sadly, it was the end of the road for the much-loved Australian soap Neighbours following the loss of its key broadcasting partner, Channel 5, in the UK.

The show was forced to cease production this month after almost 40 years when Fremantle Media, the company behind the show, failed to find alternative funding.

But as the world prepares to say a final farewell to the families on Ramsay Street in an hour-long episode that will air in both the UK and Australia this August, it seems Neighbours - which over the years has kickstarted the successful superstar careers of Hollywood's finest, including Margot Robbie and Liam Hemsworth, to name a few - isn't quite finished.

As revealed by Digital Spy this week, stars of the show will next year embark on a farewell theatre tour across several locations in the UK. And one of those locations just so happens to be in Cardiff. Others include: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Southampton, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

According to the publication, it was originally planned as a one-night 'Live In Conversation' show in London to celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic it was postponed.

Now, the concert - rebooted as the 'Farewell Tour' - is going to be bigger and better. Reuniting its stars, it will lookback at some of the best moments in Neighbours' history.

Speaking to Digital Spy, a Neighbours insider said: "The show looks set to be the ultimate celebration of Neighbours and a chance for fans to say their final goodbyes.

"The cast were touched by the outpouring of love from UK fans after Neighbours' cancellation was announced. Some of the best-loved stars will now be flying out to celebrate with fans in person."

The soap's final episode will air on Monday, 1 August, on Channel 5 after over three decades on screen and is going out with a bang. After filming of the show's finale wrapped this week, it seems the last hoorah will bring back some familiar faces. Fans were delighted to hear that two of the soap's most successful stars, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan would be making an appearance - but that's not all. Read more on that here.

Speaking of returning to the soap, Kylie previously said: "It was lovely and emotional. Driving into Ramsay Street was quite something," she said, and asked about her reaction to being back on set, she added: "Firstly, where's all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same. Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold - it all just came flooding back."

Official dates and venues where you can catch the tour are soon to be announced.
