The Zara swimsuit causing a debate among shoppers who don't think it's appropriate for a 'grown woman'

Spanish based retail chain Zara has unveiled its latest swim and beachwear collection and it’s left some shoppers puzzled. On Zara’s official Instagram account, the retailer unveiled a two-piece swimsuit worn by a model, which is hot pink in colour alongside a large decorative flower stitched onto the chest area.

The bright two-piece was accessorised with an equally vibrant pastel pink hair scrunchie. But the bikini has left shoppers divided over whether they like it or not. One user wrote: “That’s freaking cute. And cheap too!” while another user echoed: “Oooo I need this” along with the fire emoji.

One shopper commented that it was giving them plenty of holiday inspiration. They said: “How cute is this bikini?!?! Ha! Dreaming of summer!” But there were many in the comments who didn't feel like the swim set was appropriate for a 'grown woman'.

One user joked: “Looking like a grown toddler” along with a laughing emoji, while another added: “I can’t with the hair she looks like a toddler!”

A third chimed in to turn on the sirens of the fashion police mobile by writing: “I'm sorry but this is funny lol! The big flower... but then the scrunchie! I'm DEAD! LOL!!!! She is beautiful btw truly, but this is not for a grown woman.”

Then there were some users who took issue with the lack of size representation - as a thin model was used to pose in the Zara two-piece.

One user wrote: “I wish I could actually see the outfit on an everyday woman” while a French user, which has been translated into English, added: “Stop stimulating our children to become anorexic.”

Another international user, whose comment was translated from Arabic, angrily stated: “It is a fault to keep promoting only slim bodies for both men and women!”

Since the Instagram post’s debut last week, the photo has more than 77,000 likes and 255 comments.
