While The Young and the Restless’ Victor (Eric Braeden) may be our favorite person in all of daytime, to many of the residents of Genoa City he’s more like Thanos from the Marvel Universe or the Big Bad Wolf.
Victor has garnered a reputation for being quite the savvy businessman, marked with ruthless ambition and determination unmatched by his counterparts. He didn’t amass his power and fortune without ruffling plenty of feathers over the years, and if recent developments are any indication, he has no plans of slowing down.
Not only has the Newman patriarch managed to steal Glissade right from under Tucker (Trevor St. John), but he’s also building up the company to target Jack (Peter Bergman) and Jabot in a revenge plot. Twisting the knife, Victor even hired Jack’s own disgruntled son Kyle (Michael Mealor) to lead Glissade as its co-CEO. With Adam (Mark Grossman) now back at Newman Media to do Victor’s bidding as it pertains to building up Glissade white targeting Jabot, Jack is about to be in a whirlwind of chaos.
Then there’s Billy (Jason Thompson). He’s currently riding cloud nine now that Chancellor Industries (Abbott-Chancellor) is separate from Winters again and he’s on top to run it alongside Lily (Christel Khalil). However, in The Young and the Restless episode airing on July 24, Victor reiterates to his family that he plans to acquire Chancellor Industries and wants Nikki (Melody Thoams Scott) to run it.
Although Nikki, Adam, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) are left in shock by Victor’s plans, even doubting he could pull off something of this magnitude, Victor remains confident it will happen. He notes that Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) wouldn’t be pleased with the way Jill (Jess Walton) handed the company over to Billy, and emphasizes that Katherine would have wanted her best friend Nikki to run the company.
The Mustache also reminds his family that when Katherine passed, she originally left the company to him. However, he sold it to Jill thinking she would do the right thing to honor Katherine’s wishes. Furthermore, Victor shares he bought back Mamie’s (Veronica Redd) shares in Chancellor, so he already has a foothold in the business.
While most of Victor’s family remain skeptical that Victor will acquire Chancellor, Adam voices belief in his father. However, Adam also cautions his dad not to underestimate Billy. Adam’s words got us to think about what kind of fight Billy would put up, and we think he might turn to his big brother.
It’s been a moment since Billy and Jack have sat down to catch up, and given Victor’s antics, they’ll soon have a lot to discuss. After venting about their Victor problems, it’s not hard to imagine they agree to work together to find a weak link in his chain to take the Newman patriarch down.
Now, Victor is incredibly meticulous and his questionable deeds are often covered up perfectly. But if we were going to point to one possible area of weakness for Victor, it has to be how he handled the situation involving Jordan (Colleen Zenk).
Viewers know that although he eventually turned her over to authorities, before that, he kept the deranged woman in his wine cellar for weeks, torturing her with insults, vodka and Brussels sprouts. Kidnapping is, of course, illegal. Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) may have helped Victor cover up his crime, but could Billy and Jack still find out this dirty secret somehow? If so, Victor may not only face some jail time, but his own family could become livid that he lied and put them at further risk from Jordan.
We may not be certain what the future holds in terms of a Billy and Jack team-up, but they may want to partner up against Victor sooner rather than later. They’ll need each other’s help.
By the way, have you heard our latest theory about The Young and the Restless? We’re starting to believe with all of Victor’s moves as of late, he may find himself at the center of a "who shot Victor" murder plot soon.
New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.
