Head to any McDonald's in Nottinghamshire for some food and it's bound to be busy. There's no denying the fast food chain's popularity across the city and county, whether it's a family weekend treat or an indulging binge after a boozy night out on the town.
The golden arches are recognisable across the world and there are plenty of branches across Nottinghamshire for people to visit. However, not every McDonald’s in our region receives five star reviews, in fact, none of them do.
The highest scoring McDonald’s on TripAdvisor received a fairly mediocre three stars. The lowest was a measly one and a half stars.
So let’s delve into the best and worst McDonald’s in our region and find out what the people of TripAdvisor have to say:
The worst-rated Nottinghamshire McDonald's
Nuthall Road Bobbers Mill, Nottingham NG8 5AZ
Overall rating: 1.5 stars
As of March 25, the restaurant had 11 reviews on Tripadvisor with 8 ranking it 'terrible', two 'poor' and one 'very good'.
One wrote: "Possibly the worst McDonald's I've been to. Took my order and after 20 mins still no food. Queue of people parked up waiting, At least be honest when you're too incompetent to get the food ready on time, Fast food it ain't"
Another added: "use this McDonald's quite often for convenience but now avoid as much as poss always had the rudest staff....cleaners r lovely but must be in the job description to be rude or have no personality at this particular branch!!!!! Long waits too and never apologise for blatantly marking order as collected when seen stood there 20 min. And that's not even when it's busy. Worst place"
Colwick Loop Road Victoria Retail Park, Nottingham NG4 2PE
Overall rating: 2 stars
This branch has a rating of two stars out of five with 38 reviews left. 18 reviewers said it was 'terrible', with four 'poor', and eight 'average'
One diner was not happy their NHS discount was allegedly not applied as well as the Monopoly promotion not being honoured. They wrote: "I had two bad experiences here in one week. Firstly an order through the app with NHS discount has not honoured, apparently we still owed money even though we paid in full on the app. I told them it was their app and they said it wasn't. Whose is it then?
"The second incident was refusal to honour the Monopoly promotion. Apparently, according to the manager, there are no such things as sets, like Old Kent Road and Whitechapel. I guess he's never played Monopoly, or never been on a customer service course. We are good customers here but won't be going back. Avoid at all costs."
A second wrote: "Worst drive through in Nottingham After Thirty mins cars tailed back to Greggs I asked for manager. Why has this lanes stopped covid excuse she replied arrogant Manager poor service cold chips Never again will they get my orders Stay well clear"
Radford Road Basford, Nottingham NG7 7EX England
Overall rating: 2 stars
This branch has received 17 reviews on Tripadvisor with nine of them 'terrible' and three 'poor'. But it also has three 'excellent' and two 'very good' ratings.
One diner was gutted their order was missed out and didn't realise until they got home. They wrote: "Ordered two McPlant burgers through drive-thru when we got home there was only one packed. Went back again with receipt, all I got was an apology and missed burger given. Finally got back home, bit into the burger it was freezing cold."
Another wrote: "Everything I ordered was stale and cold. Inedible. Unsurprisingly as it took 45 mins to get here. Wholly disappointing"
And a third added: "45 minutes I've just waited in a drive through! Got to pay asked what's taking so long, 'we're really busy' look inside the window and there are 30 bags on the side waiting to be sent out on delivery! No wonder the food is always freezing when delivered! This Mcdonald's is a joke, stop taking online orders if you can't hack the pace! Fast food? Never been fast food!!"
The best-rated Nottinghamshire McDonald's
Castle Bridge Road Castle Marina, Nottingham NG7 1GX
Overall rating: 3 stars
Quite a mixed bag for this popular restaurant that's often busy with shoppers from the retail parks and students. There have been 58 reviews left with nine 'excellent', 11 'very good', 13 'average', nine 'poor' and 16 'terrible' ratings.
One who gave it five stars wrote: Service 100% Food 100% Staff friendly and very helpful 3am Saturday 10/08/2019. Best McDonald's ever. Well done to all at work at this time, excellent standard.
Another added: "Just a small review possibly not just for this restaurant but all others the new grilled chicken wraps are very filling as they use larger size chicken now instead of 4-5 smaller portions was hot when ordered from this drive thru.
But another added: "The absolute worst McDonald’s ever. The floor was so dirty and greasy you could slip on it. The tables were dirty. The lights throughout the restaurant were faulty and flashing in such a way as to make you feel nauseous. The ceiling was leaking. The wait for food was ridiculous."
Angel Row, Nottingham NG1 6HL England
Overall rating: 3 stars
As you can imagine, this restaurant becomes rather busy at night as hungry revellers descend on the busy city centre venue. There have been 36 reviews here, again with a mixed bag of ratings.
One keen reviewer wrote: "Pub hopping around Old Market Square, my twin brother and I decided to drop into this McDonald's for a quick bite to eat, been here before, it's not a bad outlet of this global franchise. Your typical McDonald's, typical decor and furnishings, light and airy and a prime location, we ordered a double cheeseburger, fries and cola each, service was quick and meal tasty.
"It was just what we needed, a quick, tasty and unpretentious burger meal to soak up the beer we planned drink. This McDonalds is easy to locate along Angel Row, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in need of a sneaky burger meal."
Another wrote: "Came here for some food on a night out as most people do in Notts and the staff were so patient. There was a lot of drunk people and they dealt with it so well. Some of my food was slightly cold which wasn’t a major issue at all and the rest of the food was really good. The guy on the door is so lovely and went and replaced it for me"
And a third added: "Nicely cooked burgers pleasant staff. Read previous reviews so only went in daytime eating area and toilets clean." Other three-star venues in Nottinghamshire include the Exchange Walk branch in Nottingham city centre, and Nottingham Road Chilwell near Attenborough Nature Reserve
