The Worm Moon can be seen in the UK tonight (Tuesday, March 7). Budding astronomers will be aware of the spots they need to visit to catch a glimpse of the highly anticipated moon.
The Worm Moon (also known as the ‘Lentern Moon’ which means Spring Moon) is the name given to the March Full Moon. With each month on average having one full moon, it marks the occasion whereby the moon appears fully illuminated from Earth’s perspective and occurs when Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon.
With it being the final full moon of the winter in the northern hemisphere, the name ‘Worm Moon’ originates from American First Nations people who gave it this name as a result of worms appearing in the soil as the temperature gradually rises.
Now, Parkdean Resorts has released the best spots to see this spectacle for tonight. The full Worm Moon will be visible on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 and will reach peak illumination at 12:40pm.

Weymouth Beach in Dorset is the third-best UK beach for stargazing, with 4,261 “excellent” reviews. The sky visibility here measures five on the Bortle Scale, clear enough to enjoy the mystery of the sky in its full glory. This beach is open 24 hours so you can watch the stars for as long as you like.
Bournemouth Beach, Dorset
Bournemouth Beach is the fourth-best beach for stargazing and is a great date spot even after the sun has set.

1 Get up high
The further up you are, the better your chance of a clear sky to see the stars. Take a hike in your local area and explore the surroundings to find the perfect stargazing spot. The further you are away from light pollution the better chance you'll have of seeing the stars. Moons always rise in the east and set in the west - so follow this direction in your search.
