The world's most expensive private island has opened

The world’s most expensive resort has officially opened to guests, for $100,000 (£76,800) per night.

Banwa Private Island is located on the Palawan archipelago in the Philippines, two hours from Manila, and will offer visitors 15 acres of private land, where they can partake in tennis, kayaking and beach volleyball, or swim in the clear blue waters of the Sulu Sea.

The secluded paradise-like destination can accompany just 48 guests at a time, who will be housed in either one of six beach-front villas that come complete with a private jacuzzi deck and an infinity pool, or the garden suites.

Each room, designed by Manosa & Co, in collaboration with MAP HK and Aquos Group, boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that offer guests views of the surrounding water, the lush tropical landscape, or the white-sand beach.

The vacation also promises to be healthy, as most of the food served on the island is locally grown on Banwa’s own organic farm.

In addition to an open kitchen and meals served while star gazing, guests will also be offered the expertise of a nutritionist, who will help “craft perfectly balanced meal plans”.

The island, which is only accessible to guests via a helicopter, private jet, or sea plane, also has a gym, massage suite, pilates studio, tennis court, jogging track, and soccer field.

Included in the $100,000-a-night price, with guests required to book a minimum of three nights, are all amenities and activities, as well as unlimited spa treatments.

Access to the exclusive wine list, however, will cost visitors more.
