'The world at his feet' - Trent Alexander-Arnold praises Liverpool team-mate after Bournemouth thrashing

Trent Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho, insisting the midfielder has the "world at his feet" after he scored his first goal for the club during Saturday's thrashing of Bournemouth.

The Fulham academy graduate, who made the move to Merseyside this summer after the Reds failed with a last-ditch attempt to sign him in January, replaced Harvey Elliott at half-time of Liverpool's 9-0 defeat of Bournemouth and grabbed the eighth of the afternoon with a fine volley in front of the Kop.

Another impressive cameo from the Portugal U21 international led to Alexander-Arnold, who also opened his account for the campaign with a fine effort from range in the first half, lauding the potential of the 19-year-old.

"He's gelled well with the lads and he's got the world at his feet," said the Reds' No.66. "I'm sure he'll go on to do amazing things. For him it's about pushing a place into the team and making an impact and today he's bagged himself a goal.

"He's built himself a really good foundation for this season so hopefully he can go on and push further."

It has been an impressive start to life at Anfield for Carvalho, who, despite Liverpool suffering their first loss of the season on Monday at Old Trafford, was widely viewed as a shining light of a dismal evening in Manchester as his late cameo inspired the Reds to threaten David de Gea's goal in that had failed to do prior to his introduction.

The midfielder was instrumental to Fulham earning promotion to the Premier League last campaign as he fired 10 goals and 8 assists in 36 Championship outings for the Cottagers.
