The Wiggles go country with Dolly Parton on new album

Just like Beyonce, bestselling children's band The Wiggles have gone country.

Their latest album Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, set for release in March, features collaborations with some of country music's biggest names, including Dolly Parton.

The iconic singer recorded two new tracks with the Wiggles, with the album announcement making news in the country music capital of Nashville.

There are also songs with US star Dasha, Lainey Wilson, Orville Peck, Jackson Dean, and even the late Slim Dusty, featuring music he recorded with The Wiggles before his death in 2003.

"Wiggle up, Boots on the ground, Giddy up down to Wiggle Town," sings Dasha on the album's title track, released as a single on Friday.

The music video, which is rapidly amassing thousands of views, features the band's members gussied up in colour co-ordinated cowboy hats and boots, and parading with hobby horses.

The Big Red Car, meanwhile, has been replaced by a Big Red Ute.

"Whether you're three, thirty-three, or ninety-three, this song is all about bringing people together to sing, dance, and even try a bit of line dancing!" said Purple Wiggle Lachy Gillespie.

One of the band's original members, Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, said the album was "one of the most exciting projects we've ever been part of".

"In fact, I've never spent so much time on an album before," he said.

For parents unable to get the band's catchy tunes out of their heads, this album is likely to worsen that problem, if the catchy first single is anything to go by.

The band will perform Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! at the Tamworth Country Music festival later in January, before touring Australia, the UK, US and Canada in 2025.

The Wiggles have been stars of the preschool music scene since the 1990s, becoming a global sensation - and ranking as the number one Australian artist on streaming service Spotify in 2024.

Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! will be released on March 7.
