The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood says making season 3 was 'magical and wild'

Aimee Lou Wood has spoken about filming series three of The White Lotus - (ELLE UK/Lulu McArdle)

Aimee Lou Wood has opened up on her experience of making the latest series of The White Lotus and teased what fans can expect.

The Stockport actress, 30, whose previous credits include Sex Education and Daddy Issues, plays free-spirited Chelsea in the third series of the Emmy award-winning destination thriller.

Her character raises eyebrows as a Mancunian woman in a relationship with enigmatic much older man Rick (played by Walton Goggins).

The new series, whose cast also includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Michelle Monaghan, was shot over six months in Thailand.

It will follow the exploits of a new crop of employees and guests at an exclusive Thai resort over one highly transformative week.

As darker dynamics emerge with each passing day, the series gradually reveals the complex truths of the seemingly picture-perfect travelers, cheerful hotel employees, and idyllic locale itself.

Describing getting to film in such an exotic location, Wood told ELLE UK: “It was the most magical, wild experience, and such deep friendships were formed.”

She was also full of praise for show creator Mike White as she gave an insight into her character’s part in the drama, which stars on February 17 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Wood told the publication: “This season feels different in a great way. Mike [White, the show’s creator] just nails people. He nails our awful habits and our egos with this humour and specificity that is just so alarming. Chelsea isn’t staff, but she’s also not a guest. She feels a bit like the audience: we’re visiting The White Lotus, but it’s not really where we belong.”

She added: “There’s a lot of humanity in it. I hope that it’s going to thrill and excite people as much as the previous ones, but there is an added depth.”
