One of the best things about being a fan of The White Lotus is the collective culture of guessing what the fuck director Mike White is up to. Each series is filled with mystery and constant hints and clues, prompting fans to share theories right and centre. Now, The White Lotus star Michelle Monaghan has weighed in about one of the most prominent theories about The White Lotus season three.
In case you haven’t seen it, the mystery this season revolves around the identity of a shooter at the resort and whether the shooting incident results in any deaths of the guests we’ve come to know.

One of the leading theories is that the mystery shooter isn’t actually any of the inherently flawed characters we’ve met so far. Instead, punters are theorising that the shooter is actually one of the many monkeys roaming around the island who somehow finds a gun.
In an interview with InStyle, Monaghan — who plays TV star Jaclyn Lemon in the show — revealed that she’s out of the loop when it comes to the fan theory.
“What?! What? The monkeys do the shooting? Man, y’all have lost it,” she exclaimed.
“Spoiler alert, like, sorry, the monkeys don’t do the shooting.”
Well, there you go. Although we now know for sure that the shooter is human, fans still have a long way to go to pinpoint who might be the culprit or whether anyone is actually shot.
Who is the shooter in the White Lotus season three?
There are plenty of dodgy characters around with shady motives.
One of the biggest theories revolves around Greg Hunt (Jon Gries) who we met in season two. After the death of his wife Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) last season, he moved to Thailand, found a new gal and started going by the name Gary. Perhaps being recognised by White Lotus worker Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) triggered something in him?

Of course, there’s also Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) who just realised he and his business are in legal strife and set to turn their affluent lives upside down. Plus, we saw him steal Gaitok’s (Tayme Thapthimthong) gun in the latest episode.
Maybe the tensions between the trio of girlie pops — Jaclyn, Laurie (Carrie Coon) and Kate (Leslie Bibb) — finally become too much and result in a firey explosion? Who knows!
With each episode, we’re getting closer to the reveal. Who will it be? I have no idea but I can’t wait to find out!
