A Welsh village has been named as the best stargazing spot in the UK. Mynydd Mawr Campsite in Aberdaron came out on top as the best place to go stargazing following a study by travel booking site Omio.
The study looked at the Bortle Scale rating, the level of clearance on the Southern Horizon and accessibility by transport of 199 locations to come up with the top 25 list. The scale ranges from class 1, the darkest skies available on earth, to class 9, inner-city skies.
Aberdaron landed a C2 rating, while the rest of the locations on the top 25 list all had ratings of C3. Two other Welsh villages, Ty Cipar in Bala and Llynnau Cregennen in Arthog, also made it into the top six places in the UK for stargazing, North Wales Live reports.
